When I lost my spare key, I checked around and found I could get a key fob that matched my current key fob for significantly lower than what I would be charged at service center. I brought my key fob and was informed they might have problems programming the fob because it was not purchased through them. I decided to take the risk. When they were only able to get fob to work to turn car on but not to open and lock doors, I decided to go ahead and purchase key fob from them. When I checked out, I was given my original key and newly programmed key. I asked where the other key fob was and was told it was in my car. I was surprised when I got home to see that the key part of the fob was missing. I called and spoke with my service director, James, and he told me they had put the key from my other key fob into the new one. When I asked where they key from my new fob was, they said it wasn't provided. So essentially, I paid $207 for a key fob without a key! And then, I had been quoted a price of $95 for oil change and tire rotation and confirmed this price with James before I paid. When I got home and added up the total charges for oil change and tire rotation, it was $111, $16 more than I had been quoted. I will have to return to this service center to get my key cut (their machine for doing this was broken at the time) but after that I will not go back to this service center or buy any more cars from here. I think that cost is pretty excessive. Not to mention the technician left the key in the start position with the engine not running and drained the battery which activated the theft deterrent system that caused extra work.
